1. Discuss appropriate courses with your academic advisor.
2. Check the MSU Transfer
Equivalencies page ("ACTS4") to determine if the course you want
to transfer meets a requirement in your major. (The "Basics" column
does not apply to current MSU students.) If you are unsure of how to read the
charts, ask your advisor to review the information with you.
3. Check the summer schedule of the college/university you wish to attend to
determine if the course you want is offered. Inquire
about enrollment and registration procedures.
4. If the institution is in-state, you must submit the Michigan Uniform Undergraduate
Guest Application to the Office of the Registrar for certification of your academic
standing. You can do this by going to: http://www.reg.msu.edu/ROInfo/EnrReg/GuestStatus.asp.
Click on "Generate
Your Michigan Uniform Undergraduate Guest Application," fill out and
submit form, and wait for a reply from the Registrar's Office. The Guest Application
should then be sent to the institution you plan to attend. Or you may pick up
a copy of the guest application form from 1415 EB.
5. If you are considering a course that is not listed on the MSU
Transfer Equivalency's web page, you should have the course evaluated by
the appropriate MSU department before you enroll in it. Obtain a Guest Course
Approval Form from 1415 Engineering Building or 150 Administration Building.
Bring a copy of the college/university's
catalog and course descriptions to the MSU department that offers the equivalent
course for approval. Complete the form, obtain the appropriate signatures, and
take it to 250 Administration Building.
6. After you have completed the course(s), you must request
that the college/university you attend mail an official transcript
to MSU so that you can receive credit toward your MSU degree. Have the transcript
mailed to:
