Here is a part of the Hudson River, just south of Albany, that is covered with ice.  In this part the flow is slow enough for the water to freeze.

Here we are travelling south on the train.

Notice here there is some ice near the shoreline, but the main channel is unfrozen.

Here is a picture of a lighthouse that sits out in the main channel of the Hudson River.

Out in the middle of the Hudson River (around Poughkeepsie) people (we don't know who) have constructed large wooden structures.  We think these are used for fishing.

Though hard to see, out in the main channel is a large barge.  Bear Mountain lies in the background.

The river widens as we move downstream.  This picture is taken near Croton-on-the Hudson.

Below are a series of pictures taken of the Zabriski House, which was used by General von Stueben during the Revolutionary War.  The Zabriski House is located in Hackensack, NJ along the Hackensack River.  Also here is New Bridge which was used by General Washingtons's army.

Here is a picture of the first New Bridge erected in 1745.  It was a strategic crossing during the American Revolution used by General Washington's army during the 1776 retreat.  In 1888/89, the wooden span was replaced by this iron swing bridge, now the oldest bridge of its kind in NJ.

Here is a picture of the Stuben House which was used by General Washington's army during the Revolution war.  The house belonged to the Zabriski family, Loyalists during the War.

This house is typical of those build by the Dutch Heuganot during the
eighteenth century.  Notice the single story, brick structure.  The white posts
are also typical as are the narrow windows with shutters.

In this picture notice the small upper windows and the irregularity of the bricks used on the side of the house.

Several homes from elsewhere in Bergen County have been relocated on property near the Stuben House.

This small farm house is now part ot the County Park.  Note the similar features, although this house does not have the white pillars in the front. Entry to the root cellar is on the right of the front entrance.  Again the house has wooden shutters on first floor windows and small second story windows.

The barn located behind the farmhouse is shown in this photo.

A small graveyard exists out behind the Stuben House.  A grave of one of the Zabriskie children is shown here.

Another photo of New Bridge.  Notice the iron swing mechanism in the water.
