Do you want to
stand on the top of Mt. Phillips (elevation 12,891 feet) at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and watch a thunderstorm roll through the valley below you?
portage your canoe into Oyster Lake in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Wilderness Area and catch a pike for dinner?
hike ten miles to the top of Mount Marcy in New York’s Adirondack State Park?
These
are some of the things the Boy Scouts of Troop #125 have done on their high
adventure trips in the last several years.
You can be one of us!
Come
check us out at our open house on Monday,
January 19, at 7:00 p.m. at our meeting place, Faith Lutheran Church, 4515 Dobie
Road in Okemos (map).
Faith Lutheran is just south of the Hamilton Road and Dobie Road
intersection. We’ll have a troop
canoe for you to check out, lots of backpacks for you to try and exhibits about
the places we’ve visited on our outings.
More important, you’ll get to meet the scouts.
Troop #125 is boy run
and the young men set the troop program and plan the meetings.
Come talk to the scouts and find out what they do.
You’ll be surprised! You
want to climb and rappel down a rock face?
We do it. You want to
backpack? We do it.
You want to help other people? We
do it. Ask Jonathan Brown, one of
our Eagle Scouts, about his Eagle Service Project.
We scraped, caulked and repainted the schoolhouse at the Meridian
Township Historical Village. Six hundred hours of planning and labor went into
the project, but we did it.
Troop
#125 meets Monday nights from 7-8:15 p.m.
If you can’t make the January 19 open house, feel free to come to a meeting.
If you have questions, call me at 349-5148 or call the Senior Patrol
Leader, Tom Wilbur, at 347-1787.
Yours in Scouting,
Mike Cox
Scoutmaster, Troop 125
