Facilties
The 860 square feet of laboratory space is dedicated to thermodynamic
characterization, phase behavior, and separations.
VLE and High Pressure Equipment:
Major equipment includes: Custom P-x-y vapor-liquid equilibria apparatus;
Fischer recirculating still for T-x-y vapor-liquid measurements from vacuum
to 0.25MPa; High pressure (10,000 psi) phase equilibria equipment with
1L and 2L vessels, including a 2L stirrered high pressure reactor; High
pressure view cells to 3000 psi; static cells for VLE measurements from
vacuum to 3000 psi; vibrating densitometer to 5000 psi; Borescope with
video camera and TV display for remote experimental observation. We are
currently constructing a unit for transpiration vapor pressure measurement
for compounds with vapor pressures below 3 mmHg.
