A decomposition method for solving boundary value problems is presented. The method is used to solve bending and free vibration problems of rectangular plates with elastic supports, and approximate analytical solutions are obtained. A comparison of results calculated for rigid and hinged supports with exact solutions demonstrates the accuracy of the decomposition method.
