After a long and difficult build season, we have finally reached competition season! Our first competition, FSAE Michigan, was held last week at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI involving 120 teams from around the globe. This years MSU Formula Racing Team finished Third in Endurance and 9th overall! We are very proud of how we ended up, and we cannot wait to see where this upcoming year will take us! 6th Place Overall at FSAE-Lincoln!
After the disappointment at Michigan, the team was determined to reach the full potential of the vehicle and finish in the top 10 at Lincoln. Between the two competitions, the entire car had been pushed to its limits during testing. The team had logged over 350 miles of testing on the vehicle and the vehicle tune was highly refined. Tough Finish at FSAE-Michigan
The competition started out strong for us. We easily passed technical inspections with only minor vehicle adjustments. Design went extremely well, and we ultimately ended up placing 11th. We were informed by our design judges during our design review that we would have been the next car into design finals, had the car been a little lighter. Something we will definitely pursue for both Lincoln and next year! We also placed 25th and 58th in the Presentation and Cost events, respectively. The car...
3rd Place Finish in Endurance at Goodyear Shootout!
The MSU Formula Racing Team finished endurance in 3rd place at the 2011 Goodyear Shootout! The event was hosted on September 17th at the Goodyear Proving Grounds in Akron, Ohio. Scott Smith and Chris Archambo put together an endurance time that only the University of Akron and Missouri S&T could beat, who finished first and second respectively.
