FIRST LEGO League teams from across the southern-Michigan region packed the main gymnasium at IM Circle on MSU's campus last Saturday for the Spartan FIRST LEGO League Challenge: one of the regional tournaments for FIRST Teams. Bringing in teams from as close as Ovid and as far as Ann Arbor, the event is home to a lot of hardworking innovative youngsters with competitive and spirited attitudes.
The team set up a display in the southeastern area of the gym that included showing design approaches and a video of Car 9 in action at the University of Toronto Shootout and Car 41 during Spring Testing in Gainesville, Florida. Team members were on-hand throughout the day to assist guests in photo shoots in the racecar, and to talk to competitors and parents alike about the team, the competition, and the cool things that students have available to them at Michigan State.
Afterwards, team members agreed that if these students are good representatives of future generations of engineers, the United States doesn't have anything to worry about. All were extremely inquisitive, well spoken and were firing off detailed questions about the racecar faster than we could answer.
