When I came to the United States, I recognized that this country is full of

opportunities, and having a higher education is just one of them. I started to appreciate

these opportunities by learning English. Learning this language was the first target for

me, but it wouldn’t become the last. Now with four years of education at Michigan State University and

Lansing Community College, I have had strong computer and communication skills.

            During my education, I had the most unforgettable moments of my life while I was learning English. I was not only

learning English, but also meeting with a new culture, with a different world, and with an

incredible atmosphere. That’s why I have always considered the U.S. as a small world

and the world as a big America, because both of them consist of many colors.

            Living in this country among people from many different ethnic backgrounds is

really amazing and unforgettable. Here it’s a possibility for us to taste different cultures.

It’s a possibility that we can live under one roof despite our differences, and I think this is

just so incredible.

            Streets of the United States even describe the mystery of this country. For

instance, when we take a look at a street, we will see stores like “Chinese Oriental

Market”, “Jimmy’s”, “Indian Cuisine”, “Great Sushi Bar”, and many others. Perhaps we

are practicing different life styles, but finally we are the different colors of the same

picture.

            I have always looked at the United States as a beautiful rainbow, and we, as

people living in this country, have to protect the beauty of this rainbow by not selecting

some specific colors and ignoring the others.
