Catalog Description 3(3-0)
Theoretical models for analysis of pavement systems. Evaluation and application of current design practices related to elastic and plastic theory. Formulation of improved design procedures.
Instructors Description
CE831 provides a graduate level description of pavement behavior under vehicular and environmental loads. As such it is an essential part of the graduate programs in pavement engineering and is recommended for students in the areas of geotechnical, structural and transportation engineering. The lectures, homework and projects will investigate in detail pavement response under load. The homework assignments and projects will include the prediction of pavement performance based on the analysis of stress, strain and deflection data. The course will involve extensive usage of microcomputers, data manipulation and interpretation and report writing. Students should be proficient with microcomputers, word processing and spreadsheets.
