Pre-College Programs

Women in Engineering Summer Residential Program – If you have ever wondered about engineering as a career, enjoy figuring our how things work or think you may be interested in engineering then this summer program is for you.  Participants will be exposed to the disciplines in Engineering.  Special sessions are presented on women in engineering issues, diversity, cooperative education, and international education opportunities. The program concludes with a closing ceremony involving students, their parents, participating faculty, student assistants and academic staff.  The program is open to students who are going into the 10th, 11th or 12th grade.  This is a Residential program, so living on campus is required.  For additional information and application, please click here.

Engineering is Great a State - If you are a high school student in the 10th or 11th grade and want to explore engineering, join us for this one day event in the spring.    The day will include hands on engineering activities, panels, great information, and cool things to take home.  Come meet other women interested in engineering, current college students studying engineering, practicing engineers and engineering faculty.  Registration information will be available in February 2010.

Late Night At the Engineering Building (Fall) – This program takes place the evening before the Engineering Preview Day.  Women students in the 12th grade are invited to campus and matched with a current woman engineering student who serves as their hosts for the evening.  We do a variety of activities including social and professional oriented programming.  High School students stay overnight with their hosts and then attend Engineering Preview Day the following morning.

Current Student Programs

MSU Women in Computing – This student organization is open to all students who are interested in computing.  They create a positive environment for students and provide opportunities for personal, professional and educational development.  The organization is very active with a variety of programs for current students as well as pre-college students.  To learn more about MSU Women in Computing visit their web site here.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) – SWE is a large and active student organization in the College of Engineering.  SWE serves as a support base for women students who are studying engineering but is open to all engineering students.  Members of SWE can participate in many programs including regular meetings, outreach, community service, social events, leadership opportunities, engineering conferences, awards banquets, fundraising events, scholarship opportunities, and connections with corporate partners.  To learn more about SWE, visit their web site here.
