  • American Council of Engineering Companies  -  MICHIGAN EDUCATION GRANT SELECTION CRITERIA
    SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY DEADLINE:  FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2010

    To qualify for consideration for an Education Grant, an applicant must be a full or part time student (sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student status) pursuing an engineering or surveying degree and enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering or surveying program.

    Amounts received as scholarships by an individual who is a candidate for a degree are excluded from taxable income if the Grant is used for tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for courses.
    The applicant, in the past 24 months, must have worked for a consulting engineering, surveying or architectural/engineering firm.

    Criteria used in selecting grant recipients are work experience, references, essay response, extra-curricular and community activity, and grade point average.

    Applicants are eligible to win twice.

  • Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship
    SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY DEADLINE:  November 9, 2009, 5:00p.m.


    The Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 by the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation. The scholarship is awarded to women pursuing graduate studies in transportation or a related field.

    The Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship, Michigan Award, is in the amount of $2,000.  The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:    Open to women; GPA of 3.0 or higher; Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics; Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.              

    Applications must be submitted through the local WTS Michigan chapter. The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation involvement and goals, job skills and academic record.  Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • Molitoris Leadership Scholarship for Undergraduates
    SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY DEADLINE:  November 9, 2009, 5:00p.m.


    Part of the WTS goal of fostering the development of women in the transportation field can be realized by encouraging bright new professionals to undertake careers in the area of transportation.  The Molitoris Leadership Scholarship is awarded to women pursuing undergraduate studies in transportation or a related field that demonstrate leadership skills, ability, and interest.

    The Molitoris Leadership Scholarship, Michigan Award, is in the amount of $1,000.  The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:  Open to women; GPA of 3.0 or higher, Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field, Applicants for the Molitoris Leadership Scholarship are asked to specifically address the issue of leadership on their personal statement.

    Applications must be submitted through the local WTS Michigan chapter. The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills.  Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

  •  Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship
    SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY DEADLINE:  November 9, 2009, 5:00p.m.
