Community Meetings

June 16, 2004

On Wednesday, June 16, 2004 the Antrim Coalition United through Ecology (ACUTE) hosted a meeting (Meeting Flyer) with the Technical Outreach Services for Communities (TOSC), the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), and area residents to discuss the Wickes Manufacturing TCE plume. During this meeting Gary Knapp was the first presenter of the meeting and he gave a brief overview on the history of the plant, now known as Dura Automotive. Bob Wagner of MDEQ presented information as to the size of the plume, where it's located, and what MDEQ is currently doing about it. Thomas Voice, Ph.D., Professor of Environmental Engineering, at Michigan State University, presented information about understanding trichloroethylene (TCE) and its health effects.
