Luckey Beryllium Site, Luckey, OhioProject OverviewIn December 1998, Bechtel National and Sciences Applications International Corporation (SAIC) performed a preliminary radiological survey of the site for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). In May 1998, a Remedial Investigation/ Feasibility Study (RI/FS) Work Plan was developed for the USACE by SAIC. After compiling the data from the previous site studies, data gaps were revealed and additional information needs were identified. As a result, the sampling and analysis plan was revised. In June 1999, the USACE completed the final sampling and analysis plan and the site health and safety plan. On June 15, 1999, TOSC was invited by the USACE to attend an informational meeting in Luckey, Ohio. At this meeting, TOSC gave a presentation (download the presentation in powerpoint) on its activities and forms of assistance. TOSC met with the community members before and after the meeting to discuss their concerns with the site. TOSC is reviewing documents regarding the site and planning to hold an independent meeting with the community to present the results of the document review and to identify any lingering concerns. |
