Vortex Test Facility
| The Vortex Test Facility was used for preliminary
tests of the Molecular Tagging Velocimetry (MTV)
technique. The facility consists of a simple fishtank holding about 100
liters. It is useful to gain experience with a new measurement technique
in a small scale test facility before pouring expensive chemicals needed
for MTV into our water tunnel with a capacity of 10,000 liters.
Some very interesting vortex dynamics results were obtained from the application of MTV. Studies included vortex - boundary interactions with the generation of secondary vortices. |
