Mixing Layer Facility (large)

The large Mixing Layer Facility is a two stream, blow down, water flow apparatus. It is being used for the investigation of turbulent mixing. The splitter plate is oriented vertically in this facility, in contrast to the small Mixing Layer Facility which has a horizontal splitter plate.
The dimensions of the test section are 20 cm x 20 cm (height x span) and 150 cm in length.
The maximum Reynolds number (based on the shear layer velocity difference and local width) is on the order of 105. The test section is designed to allow the adjustment of the streamwise pressure gradient.
