Richard "Dick" Lord

Richard “Dick” Lord (BS Chem Egr '53) died March 9, 2014, near Montreal, Canada. He was 84.

Lord was the first African American to play college hockey, playing at Michigan State University from 1950 - 1953. He graduated with a degree in chemical engineering in 1953 and served on the College of Engineering’s Alumni Board. He was the recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998.
