The 2011-2012 Year

The Michigan State Solar Car Racing Team will enter the most exciting year in its history as it prepares to compete for the first time in the American Solar Challenge, a 1200-mile race across America. To do so will require an enormous effort on the part of the team, but once successful, will result in an enormous milestone for both the team and the College of Engineering.

An outline of the plan is described as follows:

  1. Redesign the suspension, array, and body of Brasidius to compete in the 2012 American Solar Challenge
  2. Test extensively the systems of Brasidius to make it much more reliable
  3. Continue design and begin construction of Archidamus ("Archie") on a 2-year build cycle to compete in the 2013 Formula Sun Grand Prix
  4. Grow the team and improve the team structure
  5. Work with sponsors in a mutually beneficial manner to race at the American Solar Challenge for the first time
