5.2 All motions must pass by a majority of the quorum
5.3 In the case of a tie vote, the SAES president shall cast the deciding vote
5.4 All executive board decisions are subject to membership approval
5.5 You must be a current MSU student to hold office and/or vote on SAES issues
Section 6: Meeting dates shall be established by the executive board prior to the beginning of each semester
Section 7: The advisor's Rules of Order shall be used as a procedural reference
Section 1: The officers of SAES shall be President, Vice President, Treasurer, Administrative Assistant, Fundraising Chairperson, Webmaster, and Community Involvement Chair
1.1 The executive board shall establish additional offices as necessary
1.2 Officers and standing committee chairpersons shall be elected by receiving the most votes at a designated general meeting before April 1, for the term of one (1) year beginning the last meeting of the Spring Semester. Up to three (3) SAES Councilmen are appointed by the executive board for the tem of one semester, beginning on the last meeting of the semester.
1.3 Following election all officers (old and new) shall meet for long term planning purposes. Both old and new officers must attend all board meetings for the remainder of spring semester.
1.4 A vacancy in the office of President shall be filled by the Vice President. A vacancy in any other office shall be filled by an executive board appointee for the remainder of that term of office.
1.5 Only Current MSU students in the EA program are allowed to become officers.
1.6 The President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary shall collectively be called the Executive Board (EB)
1.7 The EB shall appoint special committee chairpersons when necessary
1.8 EB members must attend all general and EB meetings
1.9 All officers shall be available to assist other officers when necessary
Section 2:
2.1 The President Shall:
2.1a Preside over all SAES meetings
2.1b Conduct an EB meeting prior to each general meeting
2.1c Call special meetings when necessary
2.1d Register the organization with the Department of Student Life
2.1e Act as the university contact for SAES
2.1f Represent SAES at college and university functions
2.1g Oversee all other EB positions
2.2 The Vice President Shall:
2.2a Perform all duties of the President in the absence or at the request of that officer
2.2b Be responsible for programming of regular meeting nights (getting guest speakers)
2.2c Act as a liaison between company representatives and SAES
2.2d Arrange plant tours and workshops
2.2e Perform any duties assigned by the President
2.3 The Secretary Shall:
2.3a Record minutes of each meeting and deliver to Webmaster and Vice President for posting
2.3b Be responsible for a calendar of events
2.3c Be responsible for keeping membership informed of all SAES meetings and all events
2.3d Attend all Student Engineering Council (SEC) meetings and report to SAES
2.3e Maintain SAES showcase and office
2.3f Perform any other duties assigned by the President
2.4 The Treasurer Shall:
2.4a Maintain all financial records of SAES and handle all monetary transactions
2.4b Report current financial status at all meetings
2.4c Organize membership drives
2.4d Maintain updated records of all SAES members and EA/AES alumni
2.4e Work with the fundraising chairperson
2.4f Perform any other duties as assigned by the President
2.5 The Fundraising Chairperson Shall:
2.5a Be responsible for all SAES fundraising
2.5b Submit requests for ASMSU or other funding on a semester-by-semester basis
2.5c Perform any other duties assigned by the President
2.6 The Webmaster Shall:
2.6a Maintain and update the Society of Applied Engineering Sciences web page at www.egr.msu.edu/saes
2.6b Announce all current events of the web site
2.6c Post meetings and minutes on web site
2.6d Maintain web site for student and corporate use
2.6e Perform any other duties assigned by the President
2.7 The Community Involvement Chair Shall:
2.7a Plan community service events for SAES such as River Day, Race for the Place, Ronald McDonald House
2.7b Perform any other duties as assigned by the president

Section 1:

1.2 Temporary committees should last for one (1) year
Section 2: All committeesÕ decisions are subject to EB approval. An expenditure of proposal must be submitted to the treasurer before each event.
Article IV Ð Society Advisor
Due to the necessary knowledge of the EA curriculum and the functions of the SEA, the EA advisor, EA faculty member, or EA graduate with prior SEA experience will be the SEA Advisor
Article V Ð Ammendments
These bylaws shall be effective upon adoption and may be amended by a majority at a general SAES meeting. Amendments shall be effective immediately upon adoption. These bylaws shall be reviewed and updated by a committee appointed by the EB at the end of each year. Last Revision: September 24, 2003.
