Executive Board
Greetings! I'm Ross Scott and the President of SAES! Thank you for checking out our website! I'm a senior from West Branch, Michigan and have been an Applied Engineering Sciences student my entire college career. This program fits me perfectly because I have always had a strong interest in pursuing a career in the business world, but believe that an engineering degree is extremely valuable and a catalyst for success.
In 2007 I interned with Caterpillar Logistics at their world headquarters in Morton, Illinois. It was a valuable experience where I learned a great deal about a world class supply chain network and the corporate world in general. I was the first AES major to work for Cat Logistics, but now they actively recruit our students just like several other highly respected companies. This summer I interned with The Boeing Company as a Purchasing Intern in Seattle, Washington. There are a huge number of opportunities like these available for AES students.
As a member of SAES, I hope to increase exposure for our degree program and bring more prospective and current engineering students to the AES major. Also, I envision SAES as the perfect community group that can answer any questions for MSU students and support the students of our major in their journey to achieve academic and career success. Please contact me if you have any questions, suggestions, or advice. I hope to see everyone at our meetings!!
Hello! I'm Lisa Dabkowski and I am currently taking on the role of Vice President for SAES. I am a senior, and have been involved in SAES since I was a freshman. Since freshman year I have used this society as a resource for obtaining internships, gaining information on career options, and most importantly, networking. Last summer I had the great opportunity of interning with Slumberger. I worked down in Houston, Texas at their Headquarters as the North American Supply Chain Intern. Two summers ago I worked for Parker Hannifin in North Carolina as a supply chain intern.
The Applied Engineering major has opened the door for many fantastic opportunities. The AES major is extremely desirable to many employers because they get the benefit of hiring a person with a solid background in engineering, and also has strong business skills. The SAES E-Board is working hard to improve the society and promote our major! If you have any questions or recommendations, feel free to contact me
Hi! My name is Jessie Schmansky and I am currently the treasurer of SAES. I am a senior in AES with the cognate of Business and Supply Chain Management. This is my second year at Michigan State and third semester in SAES. I attended Olivet College and played volleyball and softball for my first two years before attending MSU.
In the summer of 2007, I had an internship at DTE Energy at the Pontiac North Plant, in Pontiac, MI. I became very acquainted with the engineering field, and the plant atmosphere. This past summer, I was a part of Nestle USA, in their Operations Management Trainee Internship program. I worked in the Confections and Snacks division in Bloomington, IL, where I assisted with many of the standard operating procedures and daily plant activities.
My current position on the E-board is Administrative Assistant. I am a Senior and this is my second year on the E-board. I enjoy both playing and watching sports; especially basketball, football, and soccer. I also enjoy being out on my boat during the summer.
I had an internship last summer with Holcim in transportation logistics. Since Holcim is a cement manufacturing company, I worked on many projects involving barges on the U.S. Inland Waterways System. I currently am still working for Holcim throughout the school year. I am very excited about this upcoming semester because the events will be fun to attend and it will be nice getting to know everyone that comes to the meetings!
Hello all, my name is Jon Wiita. I am a junior and entered the engineering school as a sophomore. Before I switched to Applied Engineering, I was strictly a Supply Chain Management major and have now added this as a cognate to the Applied Engineering degree. Additionally, I am involved in the Bailey Scholar's program, seeking a specialization in connected learning.
This past summer I interned for Caterpillar Inc. as Manufacturing Logistics at Track-Type Tractors production campus in East Peoria, IL. I spent the summer working on the shop floor directly with engineers, plant managers, operations supervisors, and hourly employees. I feel that the AES program was a strong contributor to my qualifications for this internship along with giving me the skills necessary to perform across diverse skill sets. This was a great experience and I would love to answer any questions about it.
As a Co-Community Involvement chair, my goal is to create a strong supportive environment and promote professionalism within the Society. I look forward to organizing events that everyone can participate in. It is important to have varying opinions and ideas so feel free to email me with any suggestions or ideas as to how we can improve our involvement in the community.
I am a Junior in the AES major with the Business/Supply Chain Management cognate. This is my fourth semester as a member of SAES and my second semester on the E-board. I am excited to expand our membership and meet new members. SAES is a great chance to meet and network with other AES students- don't be shy!
This past summer I interned with Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois. I was part of the Indirect Procurement Group working with the Professional Engineering Services commodity. I was able to work on a Six Sigma project to improve their procurement process.
Hi, my name is Ross Ricelli and I am again fulfilling the role of webmaster for SAES this semester. I am a senior Applied Engineering Sciences student entering my third year involved with SAES. This past summer I interned with Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan. I worked at their Midland plant as a logistics intern. I have also interned two summers with Faurecia Automotive Seating, a tier-one automotive supplier, at their North American Headquarters in Troy, MI. During my first term at Faurecia I worked as an engineering intern, and second term in their global procurement division.
My goal this year for SAES is to gain momentum throughout MSU and the engineering department, as well as major companies and recruiters of AES students. If you have any suggestions for anything to better SAES feel free to contact anyone in the E-Board.
