Housing Questions & other FAQs

FAQs

Q. I was just recently accepted to the Engineering Residential Experience Program and was I hoping to room with my best friend. Is this possible?

A. If your friend is also an engineering student, you will be placed together immediately. If your friend is not an engineering student, we will place you both on a waiting list and try to accommodate you if space is available. Our mission is to create programs that will connect our residential participants to the engineering community, the College of Engineering, Engineering faculty and staff, corporate sponsors and other engineering professionals. Often our program services do not appeal to non-engineering students. Top priority, therefore, is given to students who have selected engineering as their major.

Q. When will I know if I am accepted into the Engineering Residential Experience Program?
A. You should be notified within two weeks after you apply for admission into the Engineering Residential Experience.

Q. How much does it cost to participate in the Engineering Residential Experience Program.
A. Program services do not cost anything beyond MSU’s room and board Residence Hall costs

Q. What is AOP and can I meet with an academic adviser before AOP to set my schedule and to select courses?
A. AOP is the Academic Orientation Office. All questions regarding course selection and determining your schedule should be directed to the Academic Orientation Office at http://www.orientation.msu.edu/fso/fso_faq.html

Q. I'm not sure I've signed up properly for housing. I used the online system and tried to select the Engineering Residential Experience program in Wilson Hall.
A. You will get a message after you complete your online registration.
