Welcome to Michigan State University! Please know that we care about your success throughout your experience at MSU. The faculty and staff in the College of Engineering are honored that you have decided to become a Spartan Engineer!

The MSU Engineering Residential Experience program is a living-learning community for undergraduate engineering students designed to acquaint you with the many areas of study available through engineering majors and introduce you to the engineering profession. Living and learning in Wilson Hall brings you together with other students who are excited about working with their peers, engineering professionals and with faculty in the College of Engineering.

This living and learning program will prepare you for research opportunities, co-ops, internships, future summer employment, entrepreneurship, graduate school, and to becoming an engineer of the 21st century.

As a resident of the Engineering Residential Experience in Wilson Hall you will benefit from:

  • Living with and learning from other engineering students in Wilson Hall
  • A safe place to experiment and “play” intellectually through the Engineering 100 design course, themed presentations, and student success seminars
  • A small, welcoming community within Michigan State University
  • Courses and other programming designed to encourage and support creative interactions among students in the College of Engineering who have a wide range of interests and talent outside of engineering
  • Open access to in-house engineering computer labs and engineering design labs that foster creative group work
  • Designated study and classroom space within the residence hall
  • A newly designed work space on the second floor of Wilson Hall, featuring flat screen TV’s, new furniture, and engineering artifacts designed to evoke creativity
  • Opportunities to interact with faculty members from many different engineering disciplines
  • Engineering themed activities hosted by engineering professionals known throughout the world for their research and contributions to the engineering profession and their contributions to the academic success of engineering students
  • Mentoring by older students
  • Mentorship training for first and second-year students, and leadership opportunities with sponsored student groups
  • The opportunity to be a student leader and innovator
