William Bruce “Bill” Moore

William Bruce “Bill” Moore (BS Elec Egr ’67), 66, of Rockford, Ill., died December 2, 2011. He was born February 27, 1945, in Marshall, Mich., the son of Durwood C. and Ruth (Winslow) Moore. He grew up in Harbor Springs, Mich., and graduated in 1963 from Sault High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

After receiving his BS in electrical engineering from MSU in 1967, Moore was employed for 25 years at Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, and for 28 years as a partner in the rental business known as K-R Associates. He most recently worked for Vincent Investment Properties. He married Pamela Syrjala in 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and they moved to Rockford that year.

He served in leadership positions in the Y-Guides, Cub Scout Pack 429, and Boy Scout Troop 429. He also volunteered with Little League baseball at Roy Gayle Park and was a longtime donor at the Rock River Valley Blood Bank. He enjoyed family camping and other vacations to visit friends and relatives. He was always willing to help others, including being an advocate for organ donation.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pam; sons, Robert Matthew Moore of Rockford and James William Moore of Ft. Dix, N.J.; granddaughter, Madeline Louise Moore of Indianapolis; sister, Marilyn Becker of Livingston, Tenn.; brother, Robert D. Moore of Vero Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Avice Bloomberg and Doryl Langlois.
