Stanley J. Whitehair
Stanley J. Whitehair (BS '80, MS '82, PhD '86 Elec Egr), age 52, died unexpectedly, but peacefully, from heart failure, in his Peekskill, N.Y., home March 31, 2011.
Whitehair's career as a research scientist included working at NASA, IBM, Cober Electronics, Aria Microwave Systems, teaching in several academic departments, and consulting with private clients.
He had 26 patents and was the author of numerous publications. Whitehair was never presented with a technical problem he could not solve or a broken device he could not fix. Who else could have pasteurized an egg without cooking it?
In addition to being a brilliant scientist, Whitehair was a dearly beloved friend, uncle, and brother. His gentle soul and warm humor endeared him to all. He is survived by his brother Bob Whitehair; sister-in-law Kathy; and nieces Kathleen Keegan, Christine Shanahan, and Lia Margaret Whitehair of Beverly, Mass. He is predeceased by his parents Dr. Charles K. (Ken) and Margaret M. Whitehair.
