Robert “Bob” E. Almquist

Robert “Bob” E. Almquist (BS Mech Egr '59) of North Olmsted, Ohio, died November 13, 2010, at age 74. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 15, 1935, to the late Eric and Flora Almquist, he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1954 and was a founding trustee of the John Marshall Alumni Association. Almquist was an active member of the scholarship committee and instrumental in its fundraising efforts. After graduating from MSU, Almquist sold machine tools.

He and Kathryn “Kay” Eberhardt were married for 48 years. Almquist enjoyed gardening, genealogy research, collecting rocks and telling the "Cheerios stories." In 2006, Bob and Kay traveled to Sweden to research family history and visit with cousins Bob first met in 1947.

He is survived by his wife and their two children, Christine Pinto (Bruce) and Robert Eric II (Beth); his brother, Edward Almquist; sisters-in-law Irene Clines and Connie Hatch; his grandchildren Olaf and Ezekiel Almquist and Kathryn Pinto.
