Paul Peterson (BS Metallurgy ’50) died January 26, 2012, in Muskegon, Mich. He was 84. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 11, 1927, to Ralph L. and Laura (Laberteaux) Peterson.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Italy during WWII. After his service, he attended Michigan State University where he received his degree in metallurgical engineering in 1950. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Muskegon and was employed by Sealed Power, working locally as well as in Ohio, Belgium, and Mexico.
Peterson was an active member of Central United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and woodworking, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. On September 18, 1949, Paul married the former Sally A. Burris in Niles, Mich., and she survives him, along with five children: Eric C. (Sandra) Peterson of Holland, Mich., and their children, Kristin and Matthew (Danielle); Jon P. (LeAnn) Peterson of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; Laura E. Kahler of North Muskegon, Mich., and her children, Paul and Sarah; Lisa Peterson of Santa Cruz, Calif. , and her daughter, Caitlin; and Jill (Jon) Grigorian of Mooresville, N.C., and their son, Jacob. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Peterson, of Niles. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
