Carla Campbell Moncrief

Carla Campbell Moncrief (BS Egr Arts ’92) died September 25, 2011, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born February 21, 1968, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Carl T. and Annette Campbell. She attended the Battle Creek schools in her early years, and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Mich. She received her BS in engineering arts from MSU in 1992, and later earned an MBA at the University of Dallas.

She worked for Texas Instruments and the Dallas Morning News in Dallas, Texas. She also owned a bridal consultant business, “Diamond Affairs.” While living in Dallas she attended the Potter’s House and was active in the ministry. She then moved to Canton, Mich., where she worked for Yazaki North America as a buyer/purchaser and did extensive travel overseas for the company.

She enjoyed family gatherings, music, and reading.

Michael A. Blanks (BS Egr Arts ’92) called Carla his oldest and dearest friend. “We met at the Shaw Hall bus stop one day in 1990 and became instant best friends until the end. Both of us will always remain proud Spartans.”

Moncrief is the mother of three children: David L. Jones, and Erica A. and Kyla A. Moncrief. She is also survived by her parents, and the girls’ father, Eric Moncrief.
