William Ralston Carlyon

William Ralston Carlyon (BS ELEC EGR ’49), Sandy Springs, Georgia, died Sept. 22, 2017. He was 92. 

He was born on May 7, 1925 in Union Grove, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces and served his country during World War II and the Korean War. 

He attended Michigan State University, where he was a member of Delta Chi fraternity and graduated in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He enjoyed a successful career with Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company from 1949 until his retirement as a vice president in 1987. 

A memorial service celebrated his life on Oct. 2.
