William “Bill” Eric Johnson

William “Bill” Eric Johnson (BS CIV EGR ’47), Thompsonville, Mich., died Feb. 5. He was 90.

He was born April 30, 1925, in Colfax Township, the son of Eric and Agnes (Nosvik) Johnson.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Korean War.

Johnson received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Michigan State University in 1947. He also earned a master’s degree at the University of Washington and attended the business executive program at Stanford University.

He traveled the world as a civil engineer, eventually retiring from Morrison Knudsen Corp. in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he married in 1992; his daughter, Janet (Richard) Cole, of Bellingham, Wash.; his granddaughters, Kellye (Paul) Hilde, of Duvall, Wash., and Kim (Robert) Trahan, of Bothell, Wash.; his great-grandchildren, Cole Hilde, Luke Trahan, and Sophia Trahan; his sisters, Joan and Baroline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy Johnson; his son, Eric William Johnson; his parents; and by his brother, Karl Johnson.

Memorial services were Friday, Feb. 12, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, Mich.
