Roy John Ferguson

Roy John Ferguson (BS METALLURY ’62), Greenville, Michigan, died Aug. 13, 2017. He was 78.

He was born July 18, 1939, in Brainerd, Minnesota, the son of Roy Angus and Ida Margaret (Johner) Ferguson. 

After living in many different states, the family settled in Lansing, where Roy attended Lansing Sexton High School and led the basketball team to a state title. He was selected as a member of the All-State basketball team. 

He then played basketball at MSU and received a bachelor’s metallurgical engineering in 1962. He later attended both the Buffalo School of Business and the Wayne State University Graduate School of Business. 

Ferguson and his son founded the Eagle Group LTD in 1991 in Greenville.  Prior to organizing the Eagle Group, he served in a variety of executive capacities, including as president and CEO of National Bulk Equipment in Holland, general manager of Alma Plastics, Greenville Division, and vice president and general manager of Pinckney Molded Plastics in Pinckney. 

He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers and the American Welding Society.  He and his wife, Marilyn, owned and operated Ferguson's Country Store in Newaygo for 30 years.
