Robert "Bob" Fishel (BS Elec Egr '71) of Okemos, Mich., died Jan. 22, 2014, following a long battle with melanoma. He was 64.
He was born July 3, 1949, in Muskegon and married Rhonda Roemke on June 29, 1974.
He graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University. He earned his PE license and later obtained an MBA from the University of Michigan.
He retired from Consumers Energy in 2013 after nearly 41 years of service.
An avid runner in his adult years, he inspired his entire family to become runners. Other favorite hobbies included playing trumpet, investigating new technologies, and photography.
He was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett, serving in many different capacities throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda; daughters Julie (Mike) and Amy; sons Scott (Heather) and Adam (Erica); grand children Olivia, Elijah and Isabella; father, Emanuel; brothers Duane (Pat), Jim (Mary), and Chuck (Joann); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Fishel and brother, Brian Fishel.
Funeral services were Jan. 27, 2014, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
