Ralph "Poppy" Baumann

Ralph "Poppy" Baumann (BS CIV EGR '51), La Quinta and Corona Del Mar, Calif., died May 7, 2016. He was 89.

He was born Nov. 12, 1926, to Ralph Baumann and Helen Jones in Hasbrook Heights, N.J. 

He married Mildred Clair on April 23, 1955, in Hasbrook Heights, N.J.

He was a WWII veteran, who served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 as a tank commander. 

He spent his career as an engineer, after receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University in 1951.

He was an avid golfer with memberships at Winged Foot, Mission Hills and Monterey Golf Club.

He is survived by partner Jan Seitz of Corona Del Mar; daughter Sheryl (Tim) Campbell of Coto de Caza, Calif.; sons Dr. Bruce (Janiffer) Baumann of Palm Desert, Calif.; and Craig (Vicky) Baumann of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Mildred Baumann.

Funeral services were May 13, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi in La Quinta, Calif. Burial was May 24, 2016, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that donations be made to 1st Tee Program of Coachella Valley.
