Larry G. Stimac

Larry G. Stimac (BS Civ Egr ’50), longtime resident of Hibbing, Minn., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. He was 91.

He was born on July 30, 1923, to William and Margaret (Klobuchar) Stimac in Copper City, Mich. He graduated in 1941 from Calumet High School in Calumet, Mich. After graduating from high school, he served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Southwest Pacific from December 1943 to 1945.

After the war, he returned to academics and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University in June 1950.

He worked with Davy McKee, an engineering construction firm, for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was McKee’s construction manager in the Hibbing office. He was a registered engineer with the State of Minnesota, a member of VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing and the Hibbing American Legion.
