George Stasevich

George Stasevich (BS Mech Egr '51) of Gaylord, Mich., died Feb. 22 on his 90th birthday, surrounded by his loving wife and best friend for 59 years and his son.

He served in the Fourth Marine Division during World War II from February 1943 to November 1945. He saw action at Roi-Namur, Marshall Island, Saipan, and Iwo Jima.

He attended Michigan State University and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree in May 1951. Later that month, he was drafted into the Army as a second lieutenant and served from June 1951 until June 1953.

He retired from Ford Motor Company as manager of the Climate Control Department, after 34 years.

He and his wife moved to Michaywe in Gaylord, where he enjoyed his many friends, skiing, and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Dee; son, Philip (Sun) Stasevich; grandson, Justin; brother, Mike (Carol) Stacy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Sophie Stasevich; sister, Mary; brothers, John and Dan; grandson, little George.

There was a celebration of his life on Feb. 28 at the Michaywe Clubhouse.
