Bung-Chung "B.C." Lee

Bung-Chung "B.C." Lee (PhD MECH EGR ’60), Springfield, Illinois, died peacefully on March 29, 2017, at Bickford Independent Living of Springfield. He was 89.

He was born in Beijing, China, on Oct. 19, 1927, to Li-Bai Lee and Deh-Jen (Wang) Lee. He married Evelyn I-Yung Shih on April 20, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri.

He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the National Taiwan University in Taipei in 1952. He served in the Taiwan National Guard before immigrating to the United States in 1954. He completed his master’s degree at Georgia Tech in 1956 and earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1960. 

He was a professor of mechanical and civil engineering at the University of Evansville, Indiana, from 1960-1996. 

He was in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Chi in 1962 and Sigma Pi Sigma, Kappa Mu Epsilon in 1963. He was the president of the Tri-State Chinese Association of Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Evansville.
