Andrew Minshall

Andrew Minshall (BS Civ Egr ’08) of Mason, Mich., died January 19, 2010, after battling leukemia since October of 2006. Following a stem cell bone marrow transplant and limited recovery, Andy relapsed. Due to the rarity and aggressiveness of his disease, treatment options had been exhausted. He left the care of the Cancer Center and returned home to Mason to a modest apartment, in order to spend his remaining time in comfort, with family and friends.

He was born January 31, 1983, to Mark L. and Susanne (Smith) Minshall. He graduated from Mason High School in 2001 and then from MSU with his BS degree, which he completed while undergoing treatment. He was an avid Spartan fan, loved hockey, campfires with friends, time with his sister and her family, cousins and classmates. He also enjoyed fantasy football leagues, was an avid poker enthusiast and a member of the MSU cancer support group. Andy cherished staying in touch.

Surviving are his parents, Mark Minshall (Mason, Mich.) and Susanne (Rick Asper) Minshall (Williamston, Mich.); sister, Melissa (Ben, stepdaughter Cameryn) Ballard (Dimondale, Mich.); grandparents, Dave and Wanda Smith (Mio, Mich.); Carson and Nancy Minshall (Bradenton, Fla.); and numerous other relatives and friends.
