The Living and Learning Summit is dedicated to bringing together living and learning personnel in an effort to establish best practices and expertise for program success. This 1st Annual Summit is committed to fostering the exchange of ideas, enhancing methods to encourage living and learning student participation, student success and to providing a networking opportunity for Summit participants. This program will consist of professional presentations by Living and Learning Colleges and Program personnel. This year’s Summit theme is “How to Create a Successful Living and Learning Program.

We Need to Hear From You!

Want to share your “Best Practice and Expertise in Creating a Successful Living and Learning Program”? The 2010 Living and Learning Summit is looking for proposals to fill the formal presentation tracks. Issues involving student participation, career advising, peer leaders, student expectations, career networking, academic advising, and faculty participation in a Living and Learning Program or College will be covered.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Wolff

Wolff

This year the guest speaker will be Dr. Thomas Wolff. Dr. Wolff is the Associate Dean for engineering undergraduate studies at Michigan State University. His research expertise is in the area of geotechnical; reliability analysis of dams, levees and hydraulic structures, probabilistic analysis and reliability-based design. Associate Dean Wolff was recently elected to the National Council of Chi Epsilon, the national civil engineering honor society, at its national conclave at the University of Alabama on March 12, 2010. He serves in the position of National Marshal, the third leadership position in the society behind president and vice president.

Associate Dean Wolff will speak on the following subject: "Reflections of Student Success-Creation of a Living and Learning Program."

Welcome to Michigan State University College of Engineering and the 2010 Living and Learning Summit. As you continue your collective efforts to building living and learning programs that promote student success it is my hope that this Summit will highlight the various opportunities for you to increase student participation, peer lead program success, student career networking opportunities, the visibility of academic advising, and faculty participation. The Summit is on Friday, October 29, 2010 starting with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m., and will end by 5:00 p.m.
