A memorial service to remember Craig Somerton – who served the College of Engineering for almost 30 years – is Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. in East Lansing.The memorial to remember Craig Somerton is Sunday, Sept. 27, in East Lansing.

The popular teacher, colleague, and friend from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, died May 9 following a three-year struggle with cancer and complications from diabetes. He was 60.

Services will be at River Terrace Church, 1509 River Terrace, East Lansing, MI 48823. All are welcome to attend. A reception will follow the service. Questions on the memorial can be directed to Craig Gunn, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, at gunn@egr.msu.edu

Somerton joined the MSU faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1986, where he earned the rank of associate professor and served as associate chair for undergraduate studies in the department for more than a decade. 

He last taught in the college in the fall of 2014.
