What’s trending for giant online retailer Amazon as it expands its reach in a global marketplace of products and sellers?

Faricy will provide the keynote address and joins a long list of senior executives and business leaders who have provided insights and networking opportunities during the annual Broad Executive Forum of Detroit. Faricy earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from MSU in 1988 and an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1995. He joined Amazon in 2006 and became vice president and general manager of Amazon Marketplace in 2009.

Leo Kempel, new dean of the MSU College of Engineering, will update participants on progress in the college, including the 2015 opening of the $60 million bio engineering facility; the growth of research expenditures focused on automotive, energy, health, materials, computational science and engineering, and data science and engineering; and an enrollment update on the largest entering freshman class since 1986 with almost 1,400 freshmen, including 260 women. MSU Engineering now has 4,800 undergraduates and more than 800 graduate students.

The 49th annual event is Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Detroit Athletic Club, 241 Madison Avenue in Detroit. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. with an MSU Special Topic at 5 p.m., the networking reception begins at 6 p.m. and the keynote address is at 7:30 p.m.
