Fundamental and applied aspects of turbulent shear flows. Emphasis on experimental approach.

Research activities

  • Air flow patterns in automotive passenger compartments.
  • Cooling fan design for under-the-hood automotive applications.
  • Mass air flow sensors for automotive applications.
  • Studies of basic properties of turbulent shear flows.

Facilities

  • Sonic-nozzle flow stand.
  • Fan test facility  (3 cubic m).
  • Wind tunnel  (0.6m x 0.6m x 2.4m).
  • Special configuration hot-wire probes; multiple channels of hot-wire anemometry.
  • Computer-based data acquisition, monitoring, and control systems.
