  • Development of surface stress sensor arrays for fluids, including MEMS devices.
  • Application of sensor arrays to diagnostics and control of flows.
  • Low-dimensional models for characterization of turbulent and separated flow structures.
  • Improved understanding of high Reynolds number turbulence.
  • Applications to active flow control, flow-induced noise and vibration problems, and whole-field surface diagnostics.

  • Quiet low-turbulence wind tunnel (1 ft x 1 ft).
  • Application wind tunnel (2 ft x 2 ft).
  • Hot-wire anemometry.
  • Acoustic and optical diagnostic equipment.
  • Smoke flow visualization.
