ME Student Nominated for Marshall & Churchill Awards
Based on academic accomplishment and excellence, Mechanical Engineering student Amanda Ruhno has been nominated for both Marshall and Churchill awards.
Ruhno, a graduate of Dewitt High School, is a senior Honors College member majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Ruhno has interned with General Motors for the past three summers and has assisted with projects ranging from concept vehicle integration to energy and drive quality. She has studied abroad in Lyon, France with MSU's Mechanical Engineering program where she researched past and current forms of fuel cells and their application in society. A member and leader of MSU's Varsity Women's Rowing team, Ruhno's team won the Big Ten Championship and Central Regional Championship in 2008. She is the secretary of Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society.
If selected as a Marshall Scholar, Ruhno will study automotive engineering at the University of Bath. As a Churchill Scholar, she will study engineering encompassing industrial systems, manufacturing, and management at the University of Cambridge.
