Mahlon C. Smith,Haslett, Age 80, died May 30, 2008; born December 15, 1927 in Friendship, Wisconsin.Dr. Smith was a good man, loving father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Coast Guard during WWII. He retired after 30 years in 1998 as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University. He loved hunting, fishing, airplanes, military history, but first was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percifer F. and Bertha F. (Pierce) Smith. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine (Miller) Smith; daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Brown of Marshall; 3 sons, Cooper (Tristan) of Milford, Shawn (Traci) of Cleveland, OH and Padraic Smith of Haslett; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Neal (Ann) and Lewis Smith; and 2 sisters, Nola Smith and Loraine Smith.
