With 80 racing teams registered, the MSU Formula Team took 4th place overall at the 2008 Formula SAE West competition last week at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.  In fact, the team was only 20 points out of a possible 1000 from finishing in 1st place.  In the Endurance race, both drivers earned MSU a 5th place finish, running faster lap times than many of the other teams, in spite of being unable to shift out of first gear after only the first five laps.

The team placed 1st in Design by a wide margin, and the head Design judge specifically cited the team's advanced powertrain development as an exceptionally strong point in the car's design.  They also received the Honda Design Award and an honorable mention from Altair Engineering for the William R. Adam Engineering Excellence Award.
