Formula Team attends Race for Reading
The Formula Racing Team attended the Race for Reading, Tuesday, April 1, at Bennett Woods Elementary School in Okemos, Michigan. The program was put together by the teachers to encourage students and their families to read during the month of March. Each child kept a log of their recorded reading hours in hopes to achieve the set goal of 12,000 total hours. The final count was announced at the concluding ceremony, adding up to just over 13,000 hours!
Given that this year's program was auto race related, a member of the Bennett Woods staff asked the Formula Team to bring in a car and do a presentation at the ceremony. Four members of the team, including Adam Zemke, Ankit Mathur, Rachel Hall, and Corrie Zitkus, spoke to the children about the importance of education and teamwork, and how they both play into automotive racing.
Zemke, the Operations Consultant and Manager of the Team, explained how the kids were "so smart, attentive and excited. The Team would love to go back if they have anything like the event again!"
