Baja SAE Team Earns Two Podium Positions at Tennessee Competition
The Michigan State University Baja Team competed in the season opening amphibious SAE race in early May at Tennessee Technological University, and took the podium twice. The primary vehicle raced was the new innovative four wheel drive design, and the secondary the 4th place winner from 2007.
This competition includes both static and dynamic vehicle evaluations. The static competition requires submission of a design report of each vehicle system and a presentation of the design validation. The MSU team took 1st place for Autodesk Design Communication for their written design validation, and 5th and 7th place for overall design. Additionally, the team placed in the top fifteen in the water maneuverability, land maneuverability, suspension and traction, acceleration, and sled pull events, and was honored by Honda for 3rd place dynamic performance.
The team is now preparing for the second race of the season to be held May 29 in Peoria, Illinois.
