THERMALCleaning of pan

Hello,

Sometimes dark stains just can't be removed from these higher temperature
pans because the stain is locked into the structure of the metal.

Here's a couple of things you might try though (assuming you are talking
about Pt pans):

1) Use a mini-torch to apply to the dark spot to see if it can be burned
off at higher temperatures

2) Wash the pans in nitric acid to see if the acid may remove the stains.

Sometimes the stains are innocuous and may not cause you any problems in
your actual runs. You can tell this by running the empty pans to ensure
that no transitions appear. If so, then you can safely use the discolored
pans. They may not look pretty, but that's okay if they give good data.

I hope this information is helpful.

Best regards,
Bill
