Steam Injection Heating
Be able to:
1. Describe the principle of steam injection heating.
2. Describe the equipment involved in steam injection heating.
3. Calculate the steam requirements for a steam injection heating process
4. Determine the proper parameters for operating a flash cooling
system so the amount of water added during steam injection is removed in
the cooling process.

Evaporation (applied to MSU Falling Film Evaporator)
Be able to:
1. Describe the mass and energy balance equations that describe the
performance of a single-effect evaporator.
2. Determine process performance parameters (such and amount of steam
required for heating) based on the mass and energy balance equations.
3. Identify the mechanical components, identify the control
components, and describe the overall operation (including all inputs and
outputs) of a single-effect falling film evaporator.
4. Calculate the rate of heat transfer, area, overall heat transfer
coefficient, and steam requirements for evaporation.
5. Determine convection heat losses from the outside of the evaporator.
