Meet the Facilitators!
My name is Caleb Whetstone. I have lived in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, California, and my family currently resides in Rochester, Michigan. I am a senior studying Chemical Engineering. I am the External President for the 2015 session of Leadership Advantage and have been a participant since I first came to MSU in the summer of 2012. Leadership Advantage is a truly wonderful experience for incoming students. It allows you to become accustomed to the topography of MSU and make new acquaintances with peers who have the same or a similar major as yourself. I am involved in a few other organiazations as well. I am apart of the American Institute for Chemical Engineers, and a member of Spartan Standards. Additonally, I work as an Undergraduate Engineer at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams in the Cavity Etching and Cold Mass Assembly Group, and I am an Undergraduate Research Assistant with one of the Organic Chemistry Professors on Campus. I look forward to seeing all of you this summer!
My name is AJ Kaiserauer and I am the Internal President of Leadership Advantage. This will be my third year helping facilitate this program. I think Leadership Advantage is great for freshman engineers to get a feel for their major and meet new people in the process. I am currently a Media Arts and Technology major minoring in Computer Science with an addiction to game design and development. I am from Oak Lawn, Illinois and like DJaying and producing music in my spare time.
My name is Alec Wilhoite and I am a Junior studying Applied Engineering Sciences with a Minor in Computer Science. I am currently interning for GE Aviation in their IT Leadership Program, and through the networking and professional skills Leadership Advantage helped me get my first internship with them last summer. I was a participant coming into MSU my freshman year, then a facilitator last summer, and I am now the current Treasurer. I have made so many friends and gained so much from the program and I am glad to be a part of its growth. Some hobbies of mine are soccer, golf, tennis, skiing, snowboarding, volleyball, ping pong, Fifa, card games, and listening to music.
Hi! My name is Abigail Henning, and I am the secretary for Leadership Advantage. I am currently a junior studying mechanical engineering. I am from Novi, Michigan and attended Northville High School. Some random information about me: I played for the Northville tennis team, I was a proud marching band member, I am in the engineering sorority Phi Sigma Rho, and I am absolutely obsessed with Selena Gomez. I was a participant of Leadership Advantage in 2013 and a facilitator in 2014. I not only had an amazing time both years but met some of my closest friends during this program. I am excited for our 2015 Leadership Advantage program and cannot wait to see you all in August!
Hello! My name is Brooke Gundersen and I am the recruitment chair for Leadership Advantage. I am a junior studying Chemical Engineering, and I am from Plainfield, IL. I was a participant in this program before my freshman year, and I found it extremely beneficial in helping me meet friends in my classes, get accustomed to campus, and find mentors to help me get through the transition to college and engineering. I am a huge fan of MSU basketball and football, and I love playing sports, especially ultimate frisbee. I can't wait to meet you all! Go Green!
Hey guys and gals! My name is Madison Farrell and I am a sophomore in Computer Science from Clinton Township, MI (also known as The CTP). I am currently the Webmaster for Leadership Advantage. This is my second year with the program, but my first year as a facilitator. I didn't know anyone coming into Michigan State, yet alone any engineering majors, but Leadership Advantage was the perfect way for me to get acclimated to campus, the engineering building, and the plethora of resources available to engineering majors. It also helped me get to know people who not only became my best friends, but my family. More importantly though, LA is where I learned that the Dairy Store has a special on grilled cheese and tomato soup on Mondays, so take advantage of that! On campus, I am involved in Women In Engineering, Women in Computing, Society of Women in Engineering (if you couldn't tell, I'm very excited about being a woman in engineering), and Phi Sigma Rho, where I will serve as the VP of Education in the spring of 2016. This summer I interned with Consumers Energy in their IT and Application Operations department. My hobbies include consuming boneless buffalo wings, being lactose intolerant, playing the saxophone, quoting Kanye West, and going to alternative concerts. Doing this program was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I can almost guarantee you will feel the same! I can't wait to get to know all of you in the fall and look forward to helping you grow at MSU!
My name is Eric Lausch and I am the Head Caterer for Leadership Advantage. My name is Filip Milojevic and I am a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering. I participated in Leadership Advantage last year and I loved it so much I decided to facilitate this year! I'm a big fan of all things snowboarding, which is probably a result of my Canadian background. I also like long walks on the beach. I'm pretty passionate about engineering in general since I come from a family of 80% engineers, all with graduate educations, so I'm excited to help you guys get into that mindset. I'm currently spending my summer teaching 1st through 8th graders some simple engineering concepts at an after school program in Birmingham, MI. Hope to see you in August!
