MODFLOW AND MORE 2008 CONFERENCE

Dr. Liao and Hassan Abbas attended 'Modflow and More 2008 - Ground Water and Public Policy' conference at the International Groundwater Modeling Center (IGWMC), Colorado School of MInes, Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Huasheng Liao demonstrated IGW version 5.0P at the conference, highlighting its powerful features of multi-scale hierarchical modeling and parallel computing. The software is currently being developed at MSU by Dr. Shu-Guang Li and his research team. Dr. Liao is the chief IGW software engineer.

Hassan Abbas presented 'Computational Discovery and Innovation in Groundwater Science and Engineering'. The presentation highlighted the big picture of cyber-enabled discovery of knowledge as we move from a data poor to a data rich paradigm using new concepts, new methods, new algorithms, new software, new models, new tools and new  technologies. Innovative and interactive architecture of IGW, taking advantage of new paradigm and spearheading in computational discovery was also highlighted in the presentation.
