Biosystems engineering integrates biology with engineering principles to address complex issues in the areas of food safety and supply; air, water, and soil pollution; and diminishing natural resources. Biosystems engineers are responsible for designing resourceful solutions to technical problems involving living things and the natural environment. They also study life sciences and the ways biological systems interact with the environment. Potential employers include food processing companies, soil and water consulting firms, and government agencies.
